Sizemore's Buzzer-Beater Lifts Asbury Over Berry, 55-53

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
DANVILLE, Ky. --- Junior elementary education major Emily Sizemore hit a game-winning jumper to lift the Asbury women's basketball team (1-3, 0-0 CCS) to its first win of the seaosn, a 55-53 victory over Berry College (2-2, 0-0 SAA) in Danville, Ky.

In Period 1, the Vikings initially took the lead with Elly Callihan scoring the opening jumper. The Eagles responded with junior psychology major Ellie Heid hitting a pivotal 3-pointer, although the period ended with Berry ahead 14-11. The momentum shifted in Period 2 as Sizemore and Aaliyah Edenstrom rallied for the Eagles, balancing the score and subsequently pushing ahead to a 26-22 halftime lead.

The third period saw Berry fight back with Addison Ghorley's critical three-pointers, briefly regaining the lead. However, Asbury managed to end the period just ahead at 39-38. The final period was marked by intense defense from both teams. Sizemore's crucial jumper in the last seconds and Anna Hellums' pivotal free throw sealed a dramatic win for the Eagles, finalizing the score at 55-53.

Sizemore was the game's standout, contributing significantly across the board with 19 points, eight rebounds, and vital plays in crucial moments, including the game-winning buzzer beater. Trinity Britton and Ellie Heid also made significant contributions, with Britton's layups and Heid's three-pointers being vital for the Eagles' offense.

Berry was led by Elly Callihan with 12 points and eight rebounds.

STORY - QUOTE
"It feels great to finally get a win, especially against a really good team like Berry. They've played their first four games against CCS teams and done really well going 2-1 and only losing to Piedmont by two points. We've obviously had some injuries this year to some of our key players, so this was a great opportunity for others to step up and play well. We have played hard in the other three games, but just came up a little short. I'm so happy for the ladies."
