BEREA, Ky. --- The Asbury women's basketball team (0-3, 0-0 CCS) fell on the road to Berea College (1-2, 0-0 HCAC) on Tuesday night in Berea, Ky., 78-68.
The game saw the Eagles fighting an uphill battle from the start, with Berea taking an early lead and finishing the first period ahead, 17-11. Despite a big effort, including key free throws by junior elementary education major
Emily Sizemore and sophomore exercise science major
Camryn Poole, the Eagles entered halftime trailing 35-23.
In the third period, Asbury narrowed the gap with Berea leading by just one point at 50-49, including multiple steals by
Ellie Heid. Nevertheless, the closing period proved decisive as Berea's consistent scoring and strategic defensive plays held off the Eagles.
The final score reflected the intense competitive nature of the game and Berea's ability to maintain control. Sizemore, alongside Poole, led the scoring efforts for the Eagles with 20 and 21 points.
Anna Hellums added 13 points and notable defensive rebounds, and
Trinity Britton had 9 points to Asbury's scoreline.
Berea was led by Lynkaylah James with 27 points and 16 rebounds.
