WILMORE, Ky. --- Asbury men's basketball (0-2, 0-0 CCS) junior guards
Konlin Brown and
Jordan Lewis combined for 25 points, but the Eagles fell on Tuesday night in Berea, Ky., to the Berea Mountaineers, 68-59.
Berea outscored Asbury 31-21 in the second half for a 10 point lead at the break. AU responded with 38 points offensively in the second half, but Berea scored 37 points to secure the win.
AU cut the deficit to four with six minutes to go, 54-50, but that was as close as the Eagles got.
Brown, a sport management major, made three three-pointers and dished four assists. Lewis, a business administration major, went 5-11 from the field with four rebounds.
The Mountaineers outrebounded Asbury 50-32, and made 22 free throws compared to AU with 12 made at the line. Neither team shot above 34% from the field, Asbury going 19-57 (33.3%) and Berea 18-55 (32.7%).
Berea made one more three-pointer than the Eagles at 10 made total, AU going 9-36 from distance.
Junior
Luke Imfeld had eight points with five reounds for Asbury. Berea guard Bryce Riley scored 24 points with 11 rebounds, including four three's.
