WILMORE, Ky.--- Asbury women' soccer (7-3-2, 3-0 CCS) sophomore psychology major
Emily Carpenter found the back of the net on Saturday afternoon in Wilmore, Ky., lifting AU to a 1-0 victory over Lagrange College (3-7-2, 1-2-1 CCS) and keeping the Eagles unbeaten in Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS).
The Eagles offense was led by Carpenter scoring in the 13th minute, finishing a pass from junior biology major
Anna Sparks to give AU the early advantage. The goal marked Carpenter's seventh of the season.
AU's sophomore goalkeeper Peyton Steiniger led the back line with six saves, recording her fourth shutout of the season. Tallulah Lafferty, Maggie Perry, and Madison Andrews each played the full 90 minutes for the Eagles defensively in the shutout.
The Eagles dominated possession throughout, out shooting the Panthers 17-10 and earning seven corner kicks, including a 14-shot surge in the second half. LaGrange goalkeeper Carsen Makuch had six saves.
AU was called for six fouls, while LaGrange committed 11. Two yellow cards were issued in the match, both to LaGrange players, Makenzi Maltezo and Kaia King.
