BEREA, Ky. --- The Asbury volleyball team (12-7, 7-1 CCS) secured a reverse sweep on Wednesday evening in Berea, Ky., against non-conference opponent Berea College (6-13, 0-2 HCAC), 3-1, led by sophomore equine science major
Isabelle VandeSchraaf's seventh double-double of the season.
Berea took the first set, 25-18, and then AU won the next three consecutive sets (25-21, 25-11, 25-14). The Eagles had 40 kills compared to Berea's 19 in the final three sets of the match.
VandeSchraaf had 15 digs and 12 kills after missing the last three matches for the Eagles. Senior communications major
Riley McChord had 21 digs with six assists and an ace.
AU finished the match with a .160 hitting percentage (47 kills, 24 errors), while the Mountaineers hit at .035 percent (32 kills, 27 errors). Asbury used eight aces, five blocks, and 43 assists on the night.
Senior
Lucy Kate Gray and sophomore Sarah Beth Gray combined for 35 assists, Lucy Kate leading the team with 21 assists.
Sidney Haysley had 16 digs with nine kills, and
Abigail Bruner reached eight kills with a season-high four aces.
AU has won 10 of their last 11 matches, and their last three contests.
