WILMORE, Ky. --- Asbury Athletics has announced this month's #TeamAU Alumni Feature, presented by KEMI (Kentucky Employers' Mutual Insurance), highlights a former Asbury student-athlete, Elijah O'Connor, class of 2023. O'Connor was a member of the Asbury Men's Swimming team from 2019-2023.

What were the years of your time at AU?
I was at Asbury 2019-2023.
What was your major and what sport did you play?
I was a Biology Education Major and a member of the swim team.
How did God use Asbury to impact your life?
Asbury was an awesome time for my growth into becoming an adult and a spiritually mature leader. The professors, coaches, classmates, and teammates were so supportive and encouraged me to continue to better myself.
What is your favorite Bible verse and why?
My favorite Bible verses are Habbukuk 3:17-19. These verse are an awesome reminder of God's presence and strengths even in times where we cannot sense him. I find it such an encouragement on the hard days.
What is your current occupation?
I now teach 7th grade science in Fairfield, OH.
What is your favorite Asbury athletics memory?
Finally setting a team record in the 400 freestyle relay during conference championships my senior year. It was such a culmination of the efforts of me and my team and an electric moment I will never forget.
Why would you encourage anyone to attend Asbury University?
Asbury University's campus and atmosphere is there for you. The people I interacted with at Asbury, especially through athletics, are still people I talk to and find encouragement from regularly. The university's strong emphasis on both academics and community building sets up its students for healthy careers and healthy lives. There are so many opportunities to plug into your interests and find success in your calling.
