Chick-fil-A Featured Athletes | Houston Porter and Alanna May
WILMORE, Ky.--- Asbury's Chick-fil-A featured student-athletes this month
are sophomore marketing major,
Houston Porter, and junior sociology and social work major,
Alanna May. These two student-athletes are standouts in both their athletics and community by highlighting the Asbury mission to serve, train, and compete for the glory of God.

What is your major and what career aspirations do you plan to pursue?
I am a marketing major with a minor in social media communications. I aspire to work in sports marketing and advertising, focusing on social media management, graphic design, and digital content creation for sports teams or athletic brands.
Why did you choose Asbury?
I chose Asbury University because the moment I stepped on campus, it felt like home. From the professors and coaches to the students, it was clear that everyone genuinely wanted to see me grow, both personally and professionally.
How do you enjoy spending your time outside of athletics?
Outside of the pool, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, hiking and exploring the outdoors, and pursuing my passion for worship.
What have been the highlights of your experience at AU so far?
One of the biggest highlights of my time at AU has been competing at the SCAC Championships during my freshman year. Spending the final week of the season with some of my closest friends and being part of a school record-setting relay as a freshman is a feeling I'll never forget.
What is your favorite Bible verse or passage?
Ephesians 6:10–11: "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil."

What is your major and what career aspirations do you plan to pursue?
My majors are sociology and social work. As of right now I plan to graduate from Asbury and then get a masters in social work. Beyond that I only aspire to go wherever the Lord leads me in hopes of encouraging and helping others!
Why did you choose Asbury?
I chose Asbury because the second I stepped foot on campus I felt welcomed! I deeply admire Asbury's Christ like community that shows up in all programs, athletics, an personal relationships. Its the people that make the place and the people at Asbury encourage me, support me, challenge me, and push me closer to Jesus every single day.
How do you enjoy spending your time outside of athletics?
Outside of athletics I mostly enjoy spending time with my friends! We often spend a lot of time outside talking on the prayer house porch, playing soccer on the green or finding other activities where we can enjoy each other's presence! I also love taking photos, hiking, and getting coffee from the hiccup.
What have been the highlights of your experience at AU so far?
I have so many highlights from my AU experience so far but a few are the connections that I have been able to make, spiritual life opportunities (worship events, chapel, Bible studies!!!), working reunion, and of course... being able to be apart of the Asbury swim team!!!
