LaGRANGE, Ga.--- On Saturday afternoon the Asbury women's basketball squad (6-7, 3-1 CCS) completed their three game road conference week at LaGrange College (9-6, 3-3 CCS), taking down the Panthers 62-57. The Eagles went 3-0 on the week, taking down conference foes Maryville and Huntingdon prior.
Asbury was led in scoring by sophomore biology major
Juleigh Anne Tucker who poured in 14 points and knocked down four 3PT's during the game. Tucker is shooting 36% from deep on the season and her four made threes today tie her season-high at Piedmont on January 4th.
The Eagles were paced by sophomore exercise science major
Ma'Kiya West and senior psychology major
Camryn Preston who both added double-double's to their stat lines. West poured in 12 points and grabbed in 12 rebounds, while Preston scored 10 points and pulled down 11 boards.
Senior multi-media journalism major
Haleigh Releford and sophomore elementary education major
Emily Sizemore continued to be big for AU. Releford scored seven points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Sizemore added nine points rounding out the majority of the scoring for the Eagles.
AU out-scored the Panthers in both the first and second frames of action, winning the first 20-15 and the second 16-7 taking the halftime lead 36-22 over LC.
The Panthers would claw back in the second half out-scoring the Eagles by eight in the third quarter, making it a six point lead to the final frame. LaGrange got the game all the way knotted at 46 apiece with 6:45 remaining in the fourth, before AU went on a 16-11 run to take a 62-57 victory.
LaGrange was led in scoring by Zyhia Johnson's 14, Amanda McLendon's 13 and 10 boards, and Kendra Roberts' 12 and 10 rebounds. The Panthers got all of their scoring from just six players throughout the battle.
AU grabbed 56 rebounds, out-rebounding the Panthers by 13 in the department, the 56 were a season-high for Asbury.
The Eagles shot 20-62 (32%) from the field while LaGrange shot 20-70 and 29%. AU converted on eight three-point attempts, while LC just converted on six.
Asbury committed 18 turnovers on nine Panther steals, LaGrange committed 11 turnovers on a season-low six steals for the Eagles.
LaGrange scored just three bench points, as AU poured in 24 off the bench and 14 coming from
Juleigh Anne Tucker.
There was just one lead change during the match, Asbury leading or tied the entire way after the four minute mark in the first.
LaGrange falls to 3-3 in league play, while Asbury improves their standing to 3-1 in the CCS.
The two teams will meet back up in Wilmore on February 7th for Faithful Platform Night at 4 PM.

We had two ladies finish this game with a double double, that's the warrior mentality I've been asking of them and they're delivering."

Asbury is off during the midweek, with their next game coming on Friday against Belhaven at 4 PM in Wilmore, Ky.
