MONTGOMERY, Al.--- Asbury men's basketball (4-11, 0-3 CCS) dropped a road CCS matchup on Friday night in Montgomery, Al., to No. 1 ranked in the league Huntingdon College (14-2, 4-0), 86-71.
AU trailed by three to the CCS undefeated Hawks at half, 37-34, making seven threes in the half. In the second half Asbury scored 37 points, but Huntingdon exceled for 49 points on 44% shooting from the field to secure the win.
With 17:19 to go in the second half
Aden Slone made a layup to bring Asbury within one at 41-40. Huntingdon responded with a 12-0 run to go ahead 52-40.
Sophomores
Aden Slone and
Cam Jones led the Eagles in scoring with 15 points apiece. Slone had six rebounds and four assists, while Jones went 5-7 from three and grabbed six boards.
AU made 10 threes in the game, their most since December 18 making 10 against Boyce. Asbury went 13-19 from the free-throw line while Huntingdon was 16-24 from the line.
Junior guard
Cameron Parker had a season-high 12 points with seven rebounds in his second game as an Asbury Eagle.
Tyler Hall added 12 points as well for AU, collecting three rebounds and a steal also.
Huntingdon took the rebounding battle 63-42, and earned 15 second chance points compared to Asbury's three second chance points. The Hawks added 46 points in the paint and held AU to 22 paint points.
AU shot 30% from the floor while Huntingdon shot 40% from the field. The teams combined for 24 turnovers, AU leading the way with 13 giveaways.

Asbury will play LaGrange College on Saturday at 4 pm in LaGrange, Ga., to close their CCS Conference road trip beofre playing on home next Friday and Saturday.
