MARYVILLE, Tn.--- Asbury men's basketball (4-10, 0-2 CCS) fell in their second Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) matchup of the season on Tuesday night in Maryville, Tn., against the reigning CCS Champion Maryville College (10-4, 1-0 CCS), 100-61.
Maryville scored 45 first half points on eight made threes while holding AU to 26 points in the half. The Scots shot 63% from the floor in the second half for 55 points and held Asbury to 35 points to secure the win.
Asbury was led by graduate student
Clayton Winter scoring 14 points with nine rebounds on the night. Winter is 10-19 with 25 points and 19 rebounds in his last two games, winning the Asbury BGO Athlete of the Week two weeks ago.
Sophomore
Cayden Lancaster had nine points and seven rebounds for AU.
Aden Slone went 5-6 from the field for 12 points alongside four assists, three reobounds, and a steal.
The Eagles shot an efficient 81% from the free-throw line, going 13-16. Maryville wen 12-16 from the line at 75% shooting. AU led in second chance points with 17, holding Maryville to 13 second chance points.
Maryville won the turnover battle with only six giveways compared to Asbury's 15 turnovers. Maryville scored 17 points off turnovers.
AU led in rebounding 41-37 over Maryville, but the Scots earned 46 points in the paint to the AU 34 paint points.

Next up for Asbury is CCS opponent Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Al., on Friday night at 7 pm EST.
