WILMORE, Ky.— Asbury University's women's soccer team (4-3-2) delivered an outstanding performance on Sunday, defeating the Agnes Scott Scotties (1-6-0) with a 4-0 score on their home turf at the Asbury Outdoor Venue. The Eagles boosted their season record to 4-3-2 and marked a strong start in their conference run with a critical shutout victory.
The match opened with Hannah Muncie scoring the first goal at 26:27, setting a strong pace for the Eagles. This goal, which stood as the game-winning score, was part of a crucial brace by Muncie that fueled Asbury's robust game plan. Complementing her were goals from Payton Ardery at 46:39 in the second half followed by Muncie's second at 52:41. Mary Tidei sealed the victory with a fourth goal at 65:28.
Supporting the offensive efforts were Grace Mattingly, Peighton Sowder, and Madie Boehnlein, each registering assists and ensuring fluid transitions that helped control the play.
Defensively, goalies Violette Moore and Sheridan Harrison were stalwarts. Their coordinated efforts resulted in a much-celebrated match shutout, adding to the team's morale. Harrison's shutting out the opponent throughout the game stood as a highlight, a testament to Asbury's solid defensive strategy.
AU opens up CCS play with a 1-0 record, moving on to play Wittenberg at home on Wednesday at 7 PM

"We had to make adjustments as a group to help us create more chances. The players adjusted well to the switch we made. Took us the first half to figure out a couple of things, but came out ready to go in the second half. Proud of this group and the way they started off conference play. New season and excited for what that brings."
