GEORGETOWN, Ky.--- The Asbury University women's soccer squad (3-2-2) battled to a goalless draw against Georgetown College (4-0-4) in a tightly contested match on Saturday evening. Playing away from home, the Eagles displayed a resilient defense keyed by standout goalie Maliya Crump, who recorded a shutout to keep the team's record modest at 3-2-2 for the season.
The first half saw neither team able to break the deadlock, heading into halftime with a score of 0-0. Despite several attempts from both sides in the second half, the defensive lines held firm, culminating in the same scoreline by the final whistle.
The Eagles out-shot the Tigers 9-6, and 6-0 SOG, but could not find a way to breakthrough. Georgetown's Daysia Thompson was impressive on the night saving all six shots on goal.
Maliya Crump's performance was a bright spot for the Eagles. Her ability to maintain composure and secure the net throughout the game was pivotal in keeping the Tigers at bay. This season, Crump's leadership and skills have been crucial for Asbury's defense.
Looking ahead, the Eagles are set to face Centre College in their last match before Collegiate Conference of the South play.
The match will take place in Danville, Ky, on Wednesday, September 25, where Asbury will aim to improve their standing and add a win to their record before CCS competition.

"Hard fought match from both sides tonight. Georgetown is always a battle and they bring the intensity in every game they play. Tonight we had to match it and we did that. We were strong defensively throughout the thirds and were able to show glimpses of being dangerous in higher areas. All eyes on Centre Wednesday. Ready to compete again at home against a quality opponent."
