Asbury Storms Back for 2-1 Win at Hanover Behind Kim's Game-Winning Goal

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
HANOVER, In.--- Senior exercise science major Collin Mckibben secured 11 saves as Asbury men's soccer (4-1-2) stormed back with two goals under 12 minutes remaining to win at Hanover College (2-4-2) on Saturday afternoon in Hanover, In., 2-1.

The match remained scoreless throughout the first half, despite Hanover's eight shots in the half. The Panthers got on the board in the 57th minute of the match, put ahead 1-0 by Patricio Campos.

Asbury's breakthrough came when junior business admin major junior business admin major Pascal Muller capitalized on a loose ball in the 78th minute, delivering a strike from outside the 18-yard box to equalize the match at 1-1 (78:30). The goal was Muller's first career goal at Asbury after four shots on goal in 2023.

Only two minutes after Muller's goal, it was senior business admin major Alexis Petatan's midfield play that set up senior business admin major Ryan Kim for a 25-yard goal (80:05) to put the Eagles ahead for good with 10 minutes to go.

McKibben played a pivotal role, making a career-high 11 saves against a persistent Hanover attack, which managed 21 shots, 12 on goal. The 11 saves got McKibben to within five saves of the Asbury school-record, held by Brandon Patterson's 16 savs on October 29, 2016.

With this key road victory, the Asbury record improves to 4-1-2. The team looks ahead to their next encounter against Transylvania on Tuesday night at home in Wilmore, Ky., for APM Paving Night.
