WILMORE, Ky.--- The Asbury men's soccer (4-2-2) team faced a tough challenge on the pitch during their regular season encounter with Transylvania University (3-3-1) on Tuesday night at the Asbury Outdoor Venue. Despite a strong start, the Asbury Eagles fell short, concluding the game with a final score of 2-4 against Transylvania.
The match began promisingly for Asbury with
Salat Kipterit showcasing exceptional skill by securing two early goals. These efforts, however, were countered by a robust offensive showing from Transylvania, who notched three goals before halftime and added the clincher in the second half. Dylan Barnes scored the decisive goal for Transylvania, leading them to victory.
Asbury's defense, led by goalie
Collin Mckibben, faced intense pressure throughout the match. In contrast, Transylvania's goalkeeper, Ethan Drew, turned in a solid performance, halting further scoring from the Eagles. Asbury's creative plays were supported with assists from
Jason Flaming and
Pascal Muller, but it wasn't enough to regain the lead.
Looking ahead, Asbury will aim to bounce back in their next game in Wilmore against Piedmont University at 2 PM in their first game of Collegiate Conference of the South play.
