HANOVER, In.--- Despite an opening set on the road with 12 kills, Asbury volleyball (4-4) slipped to unbeaten Hanover College (12-0) on Wednesday night in Hanover, In., 3-0.
The sets ended with 25-19, 25-21, and 25-18, all in favor of Hanover. Asbury freshman standout
Isabelle VandeSchraaf led AU with 11 kills, also contributing nine digs. VandeSchraaf now has six double-digit kill matches this season.
Senior
Emma Grace Gray added seven kills and a block, while freshman
Abigail Bruner not only provided six kills and two blocks but notably served 3 aces. Bruner is now tied for a team-high in service aces with
Lucy Kate Gray, each with 15 aces.
Junior media communication major
Riley McChord continued her impressive run of form, securing 11 digs during the match and maintaining her double-digit dig streak, now extending to eight consecutive matches. Junior
Lucy Kate Gray had a comprehensive game by leading in assists with a total of 26, contributing to every point earned by the team.
Looking ahead, Asbury University seeks to rebound from their current 4-4 record as they face Centre College next Tuesday, in Danville, Ky. Following the Centre matchup AU will open up Collegiate Conference of the South competition, traveling to LaGrange, Ga., for matches against LaGrange College and Wesleyan College.
