Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Eagles Net Four Goals to Beat Warren Wilson; Ismail Scores Again

STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
WILMORE, Ky,.--- Asbury men's soccer (3-1-1) soared to a 4-0 victory over the Warren Wilson Owls (0-5) on Saturday night in Wilmore, Ky., behind three goals in five minutes during the second half.

Senior exercise science major Cameron Johnson opened the scoring at 39:35, effectively netting the opening goal off an assist from Ryan Kim, setting the tone for the remainder of the game. Entering halftime with a 1-0 lead, Asbury returned to the field with increased offensive pressure.

Action in the second half resulted in further goals from Austin Dunlap (57:58), Yousef Ismail (59:56), and Salat Kipterit (61:09). Ismail now has two goals in his last two matches after bringing two career goals into his senior campaign.

Asbury goalkeeper Crosby Short and the Eagles' defense have been commendable this season, allowing only one goal at home over three matches. Asbury's defensive line frustrated the Owls throughout the game, conceding just one shot on goal.

In addition to a strong defense, the Eagles' aggressive offensive play resulted in 14 shots in the second half alone, with 10 on target throughout the game. Asbury's command over set plays was evident as they secured 11 corner kicks without allowing any to Warren Wilson.

Looking forward, Asbury University will carry this momentum into their next matchup against Blackburn College on Tuesday night in Wilmore, Ky. With a record of 3-1-1 so far this season, the Eagles are poised to continue their form.
