WILMORE, Ky.--- Season-highs for
Isabelle VandeSchraaf (20 kills) and
Riley McChord (24 digs) paced the Asbury volleyball team (4-3) in a hard-fought loss to Lindsey Wilson College (10-4) on Thursday night in Wilmore, Ky., 3-1.
AU battled with the reigning NAIA Mid-South Conference Tournament Runner-Up Blue Raiders by scores of 16-25, 27-25, 22-25, and 21-25. Asbury took the second set with 17 total kills and were leading 16-15 late in the third set, as well as being tied 19-19 in the fourth.
VandeSchraaf shined with a career-high of 20 kills, also adding 14 digs for her third double-double this season.
Emma Grace Gray and
Sophie Glushchak also made significant contributions, each adding 10 kills.
Defensively, AU was galvanized by
Riley McChord who delivered a season-high of 24 digs. McChord's performance has been exceptional this season, accumulating over 100 digs across just seven matches.
Lucy Kate Gray secured her fourth double-double of the season, orchestrating the offense with 39 assists and grabbing 15 digs.
The Eagles will look forward to their next matchup, scheduled for September 18, against Hanover College in Hanover, Indiana. Asbury returns to the Luce Center for the first home CCS matchup of the season on October 3rd, hosting Covenant College.
