Chick-Fil-A Featured Athletes | JoJo Ernst and Mikaela West
WILMORE, Ky.--- This week our featured Chick-Fil-A athletes are
JoJo Ernst and
Mikaela West. These two athletes highlight the six pillars of excellence that Asbury Athletics is about, and are standouts not only in their respective sports, but in the Asbury community as well.
JoJo Ernst - Men's Cross Country / Track & Field | So. | Mount Vernon, OH
What is your major?
I am currently undecided.
Why did you choose Asbury?
I chose Asbury because I wanted to grow my faith at a Christ centered University and have my academics and athletics be surrounded by Christ. I also loved the community at Asbury and felt called here after I visited.
Career Aspirations:
I am considering about having a future career in the media communications field. Possibly a film or sports media emphasis.
What Do You Enjoy?:
I enjoy being outside, running, and spending time with family and friends.
Favorite Bible Verse:
Colossians 3:17
What Head Cross Country / Track & Field Coach Randy Crist has to say about JoJo:
"Jojo's enthusiasm for running, our team, and for Asbury has made him a real joy to coach. He works hard in practice and is a gutsy competitor, and manages to do it with a smile and such a joyful spirit. He was a valuable runner for us last fall in cross country, but the shorter spring races on the track is where he was really able to shine. I can't wait to see what he will accomplish over the next few years."
Mikaela West - Women's Tennis I Jr. I Kalamazoo, MI
What is your major?
My major is biology.
Why did you choose Asbury?
I chose Asbury because my parents are alumni, so I felt like I knew the school and the campus. I also liked the small class sizes.
Career Aspirations:
My career aspirations are to attend University of Michigan after graduation from Asbury for a doctorate in dentistry and then attend residency to become an oral maxillofacial surgeon.
What Do You Enjoy?:
I enjoy hanging out with my friends, reading, and drawing/painting.
Favorite Bible Verse:
My favorite Bible verse is 1 John 4:8.
"Mikaela is one of the hardest working people I have come across ever. She is smart, determined and completely relentless when she sets her sights on accomplishing a goal. Sometimes her nerves can enter into her matches, but those are the moments where we remember how much she truly cares about what she is doing and how much things mean to her. She is driven and I love that God has placed her onto our team to add that little bit of extra effort when we need it the most."
