Chick-Fil-A Featured Athletes | Ryan Kim and AJ Rogers
WILMORE, Ky.--- This week our featured Chick-Fil-A athletes are
Ryan Kim and
AJ Rogers. These two athletes highlight the six pillars of excellence that Asbury Athletics is about, and are standouts not only in their respective sports, but in the Asbury community as well.
Ryan Kim - Men's Soccer | Sr. | Seoul, South Korea
What is your major?
I am majoring in Business Administration and minoring in Pre-law
Why did you choose Asbury?
I chose Asbury because it seemed like the place that would best re-acclimate me to life after COVID. Frankly, I knew little to nothing about the school other than having looked at some google images and spoken to a couple guys on the soccer team through social media but, Asbury seemed like a nice enough place. Little did I know it would turn out to be as good as it gets for myself in terms of finding myself after the pandemic and pursuing a collegiate athletic career as well as an undergraduate education.
Career Aspirations:
Hopefully get into law school and start a corporate legal career.
What Do You Enjoy?:
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, working out, fashion, music, travel, football (the real one), golf, long drives listening to music, as well as jumping into bed after a long day doing or any combination of those things.
Favorite Bible Verse:
My favorite Bible Verse is James 1:12 that says "Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him."
What Head Soccer Coach Ben Andrews has to say about Ryan:
I'm so proud of Ryan and his development on and off the field. The role he plays for us is vital to our success. He has an ability to impact the game at any time and has shown that by scoring some big goals for us. I'm grateful he's part of our family and excited to see him in his last season with us this fall.
AJ Rogers - Women's Swimming I So. I Portland, Tx.
What is your major?
I am majoring in Sport Management
Why did you choose Asbury?
Because I wanted to swim and get my degree at a university that honored the Lord.
Career Aspirations:
I want to work in youth or college sports to give upcoming athletes the opportunities they may not have had otherwise. Sports have shaped me into who I am today, and I want to share that with others.
What Do You Enjoy?:
I enjoy being in the water whether that is swimming or surfing. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends outside.
Favorite Bible Verse:
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
AJ has consistently shown her character and her effort throughout her first season. Whether it's helping cover a swim lesson for a teammate, cleaning up after our team leaves a space, or giving 110% in practice, I know I can count on AJ. She has really seized every opportunity to grow this season and I'm excited to continue to work with her over the next few years.
