NICHOLASVILLE, Ky.--- On Monday afternoon, Asbury softball (3-5) hosted NCCAA opponent Oakland City (7-7) for a midweek doubleheader. Despite early runs made by AU, they ultimately fell to the Mighty Oaks offensive power, dropping game one 8-2 and game two 1-0.
The Eagles found their hits early in game one, with a hit and a homer by
Taylor Enlow to give them an early 2-0 lead. Oakland City responded with eight hits and eight runs to take the win for game one. Game two was a battle for both teams to bring players home, despite 10 hits across the teams. Oakland City capitalized in the third and held their 1-0 lead for the remainder of the game.
Asbury had 12 hits on the day and four errors, but OCU exploded offensively with 16 hits in the two games.
* Taylor Enlow led the day, going 3-3 in game one with a double and HR. Enlow collect her fourth hit of the day in game two
* Josie Deatherage started on the mound in game one, pitching a full game, collecting three Ks with only one walk
* Freshman Sidney Hansen started her first collegiate game, picking up two strikeouts and zero walks
* Freshman Abigail Moffat collected three hits on the day and a scored run
* Kaitlin Bolin picked up two solid hits throughout the doubleheader
*OCU Hannah Wissel grabbed four hits on the day with two doubles in game two, finishing 4-8
Game One | ASBURY 2, OAKLAND CITY 8
* Asbury led 2-0 over OCU after three innings, scoring a run in the first and third
* Taylor Enlow's hit and a homer gave AU their early lead, scoring Moffat for run one
* Oakland City was held to one hit for the first three innings
* OCU scored five runs in the top of the fourth off six hits and one Asbury error
* The Mighty Oaks would go on to score three more to secure an 8-2 win.
Game Two | ASBURY 0, OAKLAND CITY 1
* Despite a low score, AU put up four hits compared to OCU's six, with OCU scoring the only run of the game.
* Sidney Hansen held OCU scoreless until the Mighty Oaks put up their one in the third.
* Asbury had a late chance for a comeback with two runners in scoring position, but fell to OCU pitcher Parker, in the bottom of the sixth

* OCU had 16 hits on the day and nine runs
* Asbury had 12 hits but only three runs

Asbury will travel to Campbellsville, Ky. to take on the Campbellsville Tigers on Friday for a 1 and 3 PM doubleheader.
