CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky.--- Asbury softball (9-12) faced off against NCCAA opponent Campbellsville University (16-9) on Wednesday afternoon for a midweek contest. AU fell late in game one, finishing 7-1 and displayed more offensive feats in game two, with
Natalie Ison and
Abigail Moffat both collecting 2 RBI homers. Asbury ultimately fell to the Tigers late-inning pushes, 5-4.
The Eagles put up 13 hits over the two games, with three doubles and two home runs. AU's lone run in game one came from a double from
Taylor Enlow in the third inning. Asbury produced more offensively in game two, outhitting the Tigers 9-6.
Natalie Ison and
Abigail Moffat led AU at the plate for game two, combining for seven hits, four RBIs, two home runs, and three runs.
Josie Deatherage began on the mound in game one, collecting six strikeouts and only allowing one walk.
Sidney Hansen pitched game two, collecting her fourth strikeout of the year and allowing no walks.
Asbury got ahead in the fourth inning of game two, after back-to-back innings of home runs put them up 4-1. A fifth-inning push would put Campbellsville ahead by one after they hit a homer themselves, taking the game 5-4 after holding AU for the next inning.

* CU added five more in the last two innings off of four hits
* Josie Deatherage pitched seven innings with six strikouts
Game Two | ASBURY 4, CAMPBELLSVILLE 5
* Asbury was first to score with Ison's two-run home run in the third
* CU responded with a home run in the third for their first run of the game
* Moffat mirrored Ison and hit her own two-run homer in the fourth, putting AU up 4-1
* A hit and a home run would put Campbellsville back on top, where they would hold the win, 5-4
* Sidney Hansen pitched game two, allowing no walks
* Four of the five scoring plays across the game came from home runs from either side

* Asbury had three doubles and two home runs through the two games
* Asbury had 13 hits and five RBIs through the day
* Six home runs were hit across the two teams

Asbury will return to Wilmore, Ky. for a 12-game stretch of home play starting April 2nd for a doubleheader against Mount St Joseph at 4:30 and 6:30 PM.
