DANVILLE, Ky.--- Asbury softball (10-13) took on backyard opponent, Centre college (12-20) on Saturday afternoon for a doubleheader against a firm opponent. The Eagles split with the Colonels, with Asbury winning game one, 2-1. AU fell to strong hitting by Centre in game two, 4-0.
The Eagles put up eight hits over the two games, with three doubles and two runs. AU and CC matched for a run each, early in game one and both teams fought to find a lead for the next three innings. Freshman

Asbury's defense, led by
Josie Deatherage (6-5) with three strikeouts, held Centre to their one run and only four hits for the remainder of the game, giving Asbury their tenth win of the season.
Despite momentum from game one, the Eagles struggled in game two to produce at the plate. Centre found their lead early in game two, scoring four runs in the first two innings. AU was unable to match the Colonel's offense and fell 4-0 while putting up three hits.
Sidney Hansen aided the mound efforts in game two, pitching 4.2 innings with one strikeout and no runs allowed.

* Centre found an early lead with their four runs of the game being scored in the first two innings
* Abigail Moffat, Natalie Ison, and Sidney Hansen each collected a hit for AU
* Asbury finished with only three left on base
* Centre pitcher Lucy Baseheart was impressive on the mound, giving up no runs and collecting 10 Ks

* Asbury had three doubles and two runs scored on the day
* AU finished with eight hits and two RBIs through the two games
