WINONA LAKE, In.--- Asbury men's basketball (16-11) senior forward
Clayton Winter notched his 13th double-double of the season with 24 points and 17 rebounds on Thursday morning as the No. 7 Eagles fell to No. 3 Mission University, 80-89 on day two of the NCCAA National Tournament at Grace College in Winona Lake, In.
Asbury and Mission tied at 39 rebounds apiece, but the Patriots shot 53% from the field and scored 46 second half points to take the win.
* Calyton Winter scored 24 points (11-17 FG) with 17 rebounds and two assists, grabbing his 13th double-double of the season
* Ben McNew scored 11 points with three three's and grabbed five rebounds
* Caleb Wallis scored 10 points with four rebounds and two assists
* Dakota Walden scored 10 points with two three's and two rebounds
* Cayden Lancaster scored nine points with three three's and two rebounds
* Aden Slone dished three assists and scored eight points, going 2-2 from distance
* Hagan Webb dished four assists and made a three
* Jacquest Thomas went 12-17 with 31 points for Mission
* A day after Asbury fell in double-overtime to the No. 2 seed Wayland Baptist after leading by 18, the Eagles were tied with the No. 3 seed, Mission University at the half, 43-43
* Both teams tied at 39 rebounds apiece in the game
* AU made 13 three's and shot 41% from the field
* Mssion made nine three's and shot 53% from the field
* Asbury went 7-9 from the free-throw line, Mission was 8-11
* Mission grabbed eight steals and committed 13 turnovers
* Asbury grabbed six steals and committed 14 turnovers
* The Eagles dished 20 assists in the game
* AU led late in the second half but a surge from Mission deep in the game carried the Patriots to the win
* Mission shot 53% from the field
