Wallis Scores 35 in No. 7 Asbury Overtime Loss to No. 2 Wayland Baptist in National Tournament


STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
WINONA LAKE, In.--- Senior business admin. major Caleb Wallis scored 35 points with five assists and four rebounds in the quarterfinal round of the NCCAA National Tournament on Wednesday morning at Grace College in Winona Lake, In., despite No. 7 seed Asbury men basketball (16-10) falling in double-overtime to No. 2 seed Wayland Baptist (21-10), 91-101. 

The Eagles led by 18 points in the first half (26-8) and outscored Wayland Baptist 37-30 in the first half, but were outscored 37-44 in the second half to send the game into overtime. Wayland Baptist scoed 64 points in the paint and 29 second chance points while AU made 14 threes and went 19-21 from the line. 

STORY - TOP PERFORMERS
* Caleb Wallis scored a career-high 35 points, career-high 10 field goals, including 6-10 from three, 9-9 from the free-throw line, five assists and four rebounds
* Ben McNew went 8-13 from the field and 5-9 from three for 26 points and five rebounds and two steals
* Dakota Walden scored 20 points with six rebounds and three assists
* Clayton Winter led AU with 14 rebounds and two assists
* Cayden Lancaster grabbed four rebounds and a block
* Aden Slone dished four assists and grabbed two rebounds

* Quenton Coleman scored 32 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Wayland Baptist
