Crist Receives CCS Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year
ATLANTA, Ga.--- Asbury cross country head coach Randy Crist was named the 2024 Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Women's Cross Country Coach of the Year on Friday afternoon.

Crist, in his 17th season leading the cross country program, led AU to their first CCS Conference Championship in just the first year of competition in the league. The Eagles had two student-athletes named as 1st Team All-CCS runners (Bailey Gassmann and Emma Groff), and also two runners to the 2nd Team All-CCS (Ava Miller and Lily Anne Rinehart).
"Coach Crist continues to do a great job leading our cross country and track and field programs," said Asbury VP for Intercollegiate Athletics Mark Whitworth. The women's cross country team performed beautifully in the CCS Championship and we are thrilled for him to receive Coach of the Year honors while guiding his team to a CCS title in Asbury's inaugural year in the conference.
The 2024 season features two other first place team finishes where the women claimed the title at the Midway Invitational on Sept. 20 and the Spoon Fiercely Faithful Meet on Oct. 12. With the conference tournament win, Crist and the team will qualify to compete at the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) Division-III Great Lakes Regional hosted in Shelbyville, In. on November 16.
Crist has been coaching the Eagles since the 2008 season and West Jessamine High School for 10 years prior, where he coached 3 state champions. He was also recently named as head of the Asbury track & field programs.
