JACKSON, Miss.--- No. 3 Seed Asbury men's soccer (10-5-3, 4-3-0 CCS) came up short in Jackson, Miss., on Saturday night to No. 2 seed Belhaven University in the Collegiate Conference of the South Semifinals, 4-1.
The match kicked off with high energy as Asbury MBA student
Austin Dunlap, assisted by senior accounting major
Oliver Gunthorpe, scored the opening goal at 10:29 into the first period. The goal was Dunlap's second in the last two matches and his 19th career goal at AU.
Dunlap had five total shots with four on goal.

Pascal Muller, and
Salat Kipterit each had a shot on goal as well for the Eagles.
The Asbury lead was countered by Belhaven's Wesley Bloodworth, assisted by Courtland Williams, equallizing at 25:00. The second period was powered by Belhaven scoring three consecutive goals. Williams (48:41), Igor Rudolph (52:59), and Ciaran Colvin (64:20) each found the back of the net, with Colvin's goal sealing the victory for the Blazers.
Asbury had 11 total shots compared to Belhaven's 15. AU put eight on goal at one more than seven from the Blazers.
The Blazers had seven key saves on the night from CCS Goalkeeper of the Year, Danny Bahena.
Collin Mckibben had three saves for Asbury.
Belhaven had four corners on the night in front of Asbury with one corner. Both teams combined for 32 fouls, Belhaven with six more than AU at 19 fouls. The Blazers had two yellow cards while Asbury was given one yellow.
Asbury had allowed only three goals in total over their last eight matches, since beating Belhaven in Jackson, Miss., on October 5th. The Eagles finish the opening season in the CCS at 4-3-0 with a run to the CCS Tournament Semifinals.
AU will look forward to the National Christian College Athletics Association (NCCAA) Mideast Region Tournament update to continue their 2024 season.
