STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
WILMORE, Ky.--- The No.3 Asbury men's soccer team (10-4-3, 4-2-0 CCS) scored five goals in the opening round of the Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) Tournament on Wednesday night in Wilmore, Ky., to beat No. 6 Piedmont in their 10th win on the season.

AU moves on to the CCS Semifinals in Jackson, MS., for a matchup with No. 2 Belhaven University on Saturday night.

Senior sport management major Nick Eller scored his third (38:56) and fourth (82:49) goals in the last two matches, taking him to eight on the season. Sophomore Salat Kipterit scored his eighth on the season as well, scoring first for AU in the 29th minute assisted by junior Jon Gordon

Senior Dalton Fleshood scored a brilliant goal (58:40) for the first of the second half off an assist from Jason Flaming, Fleshood's third of the year. MBA student Austin Dunlap finished a deep ball from Jon Gordon in the lower left corner of the goal in the 60th minute for his 18th career goal at AU.

Asbury was in sync as a unit throughout the match as Jon Gordon provided his first two assists of the season. Pascal Muller (2), Jason Flaming (6), and Bishop Burke (1), each contributed with assists on the scoreboard. Flaming's was his sixth assist on the year that takes him to tied for second in the CCS, while Burke's was his first career assist.

AU goalkeeper Peyton French continued his incredible stretch, allowing only one goal for just three allowed now in the last eight matches. French had three saves to hold off Piedmont after the Lions scored four goals against Asbury on September 30.

Asbury had 13 shots on the night with seven on goal while Piedmont had seven shots with four on goal. There were 22 fouls combined, Asbury with 12 and Piedmont 10. Both teams also recieved two yellow cards.

With this victory, Asbury improves their record to 10-4-3 overall, with a 4-2-0 CCS record.
