MARYVILLE, Tn.--- The Asbury women's soccer team (6-5-5, 3-2-2) traveled to Maryville College (10-2-4, 7-0-0) on Wednesday night for their last road conference match up of the regular season. It was the Scots who came away with the week night match win, taking the game 1-0 at the Maryville College Soccer Complex. Despite a tremendous defensive effort and seven saves from goalie Maliya Crump, AU could not savor a win.
The match's decisive moment arrived in the first period, when Maryville's Sierra Lee found the back of the net at 21:08, assisted by Avery Brown. This early lead by Maryville set the tone for the game, as Asbury struggled to even the score. The Eagles' goalie, Maliya Crump, showcased an impressive performance with seven saves, but it was not enough to ward off the Scots' offense. Sydney Mahr of Maryville achieved a shutout, enhancing her team's defensive record.
The AU back line was headed by Maggie Perry and Lauren Davis who stopped many Scots attacks. The offense was powered by Maria Eagle, Caroline Preston, and Eva De Sousa who all put shots together on the attack.
Asbury's current season record now stands at 6-5-5, with a conference record of 3-2-2. Looking ahead, the Eagles are set to take on Wesleyan College at home on Saturday night during their Senior Night at the Asbury Soccer field. The game will begin at 6P PM with senior night festivities taking place prior to kickoff.
