
JACKSON, Ms.--- In a tightly contested conference showdown, the Asbury women's soccer squad (6-4-5, 3-1-2) went head-to-head with the Belhaven Blazers (10-4-1, 4-2-1) on Saturday night, concluding in a 0-0 draw. The match, held in Jackson, MS, witnessed athletic prowess from both sides, specifically highlighting a crucial save by Asbury's goalie, Maliya Crump, that kept the game level.
Throughout the first half, both teams established a firm defensive foundation, maintaining a nil-nil score at halftime. As the second half progressed, the intensity amplified, yet neither team managed to break the deadlock. The highlight of the game came in the late stages when Maliya Crump denied Belhaven their best chance at 78:21, preserving a shutout for Asbury and recording her lone save of the match. Her counterpart from Belhaven, Julianne Wilson, also kept a clean sheet but faced no shots on target.
The women have two conference matches in the last week of the regular season, hitting the road against Maryville College on Wednesday night, before hosting Weslyean for Senior Night on Saturday.
