WILMORE, Ky.--- The Asbury men's soccer team (8-3-2, 3-1 CCS) used six different goal scorers to win their fourth straight match on Tuesday night in Wilmore, Ky., against visiting National Christian College Athletics Association (NCCAA) opponent, Boyce College (7-4), 6-0.
The non-conference matchup was marked by cold and overcast conditions, yet it didn't deter the Eagles from displaying an aggressive and coordinated offense throughout the game.
The first half set the tone with sophomore
Jason Flaming opening the scoring with his fifth goal of the season at 18:59, ultimately netting what would be the game-winning goal. The Eagles held a 1-0 lead at halftime before excelling for five goals in the second half.
Cameron Johnson (4),
Gavin Howard (1),
Austin Dunlap (2),
Salat Kipterit (7), and
Sawyer Hardy (1) all contributed to the scoreboard, showcasing Asbury's depth and versatility in attack. Notably, the senior media communication major
Sawyer Hardy scored his first career goal for AU.
Assists were plentiful, with the CCS Offensive Player of the Week
Ryan Kim providing two crucial setups, and Dunlap also contributing with one assist. The CCS and NCCAA Defensive Player of the Week
Peyton French was pivotal in keeping the Bulldogs at bay, accumulating four saves and securing his third consecutive clean sheet.
The Eagles' defense, having not allowed a goal in three matches and only one goal in the last four, was once again impenetrable. Offensively it was one of the strongest performances of the year for AU, recording a season-high 28 shots and the most shots on goal with 16.
Looking ahead, Saturday at 4 pm in Lookout Mountain, Ga., is a key matchup for Asbury on the road against the No. 1 ranked squad in the CCS, Covenant College. The Eagles stand at No. 2 in the CCS behind the undefeated Covenant Scots.

"It was definitely a good feeling to get on the board first for us tonight. We came out in the second half and worked really hard. This is a really nice boost for us to head into challenging conference match on Saturday."
