PIPPA PASSES, Ky.--- Double-digit scoring from
Haleigh Releford and
Trinity Shearer and a third quarter scoring burst leads Asbury women's basketball (10-7) to their third win off the calendar year over Alice Lloyd (8-7), 65-60. The win keeps the women perfect in the new year and gives the team their largest win streak of the season.

Haleigh Releford led AU with 14 points, eight rebounds, and two steals

Trinity Shearer scored 13 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished five assists, and collected three steals

Abigail Harris added nine points (6-8 FT) off the bench

Morgan Flannery talllied seven points and two assists

Ma'Kiya West and
Celia Pelfrey each added six points off the bench
* Alice Lloyd's Hannah Kash led the Eagles with 21 points, Madison Thompson recorded 15 rebounds

* AU shot 32% from the field and 14% from three-point range
* Alice Lloyd shot 38% from the field and 33% from beyond the arc
* ALC outrebounded Asbury 49-41
* AU converted 19 points off turnovers and scored 22 points inside the paint
* Asbury turned over the Eagles 19 times in the game, coming away with 10 steals
* AU finished with 11 assists on the night, ALC collected 13
* Alice Lloyd led 29-26 going into the half
* 26 points from Asbury out of the break gave them a 7 point lead into the fourth quarter
* In the third quarter the Eagles converted half of their attempts (9-18 FG)
* Alice Lloyd would outscore AU 15-13 in the fourth
* In back to back games Asbury's offense has exploded for 25 or more points in the third quarter
* The NCCAA Mideast Regional foes will face off again this month in Wilmore on January 30th

* The Eagles outscored Alice Lloyd 26-16 out of the break
* Asbury shot 19-24 (79%) from the foul line
* AU only turned the ball over seven times
* Asbury's bench out scored ALC's bench, 23-13
"It wasn't our best performance, but I may be more proud of this win than any other to be honest. Anytime you can get a win against Alice Lloyd at their place you should be happy. They've had some players out that are now back, so we are very pleased with this win. We will get back to practice and work on some things and be ready to go this Saturday for the Ray Shouse Memorial game versus Welch College."
