  • What does serving, training, and competing for the glory of God mean to you?

Serving, training, and competing for the glory of God means recognizing that every skill and opportunity that I have comes from Him. It means striving to honor God through my character, effort, and how I treat my teammates, coaches, and opponents. As I compete for God's glory, I am reminded that my identity is found in Him, not in wins or losses, or my athletic/academic performance.

  • Who are some of the coaches, faculty and staff that have impacted you at AU?

The relationships I have built at Asbury have been one of the greatest blessings of my college experience; they genuinely cared about my personal growth on and off the court and have helped me grow spiritually. Specifically, Coach Mayes, Coach G, and Coach Kali have had a lasting impact on my life by showing me Christ-like leadership. They never fail to demonstrate how to allow their faith to guide the way they lead and live.

  • How has God impacted your walk with Him during your time at Asbury?

One of the biggest lessons I have learned during my time at Asbury that has impacted my walk with Him is that God is steadfast and unwavering no matter the challenges. Through countless injuries, hardships, and personal growth, He has taught me humility, perseverance, and the importance of making God the foundation of my life.

  • What advice would you give to new student-athletes coming to Asbury?

My advice to new student athletes is to take every opportunity to build meaningful Christ-like relationships with your teammates, coaches, and professors. I have personally found some of my lifelong friends through Asbury, which has been one of my biggest blessings. Being a student-athlete comes with many challenges and hardships, but staying consistent with your relationship with Christ will get you through anything that you will face.

Cam is such an instrumental part of the AU women's basketball program both on, and off, the court. She is one of our team captains because of not only her playing ability, but because of the fact that Cam is genuinely concerned about every person in our program as a person. Cam has used her athletic abilities to be a leader of more than just her teammates, but also everyone she is around in her everyday life, while showing Jesus to both groups of people.
Chad Mayes | Head Women's Basketball Coach
Cam Poole is a great representative of God's love and the Asbury lifestyle by genuinely giving 100% of herself in pure sacrifice for her team, her family and her school. She is the truest example of what a teammate should be and treats everyone in her life with the purest of heart. She is encouraging toward those around her and makes teammates better with intensity and respect. She never takes days off and those around her are drawn into following by her example. There are not many like this her.
