Chick-Fil-A Featured Athletes | Luke Wheatley and Maris Wainright
WILMORE, Ky.--- This week our featured Chick-Fil-A athletes are
Luke Wheatley and
Maris Wainright. These two athletes highlight the six pillars of excellence that Asbury Athletics is about, and are standouts not only in their respective sports, but in the Asbury community as well.
Luke Wheatley - Men's Cross Country | Sr. | Louisville, Ky.
What is your major?
My major is Finance.
Why did you choose Asbury?
I chose Asbury because of my initial visit and the way I was treated like no other university I had visited, including other Christian universities. I felt like I needed to be here and was lucky enough to get a chance to compete in college.
Career Aspirations:
I am currently looking into financial planning and would love to work a job that has a lot of interaction with people face to face rather than me and a computer screen.
What Do You Enjoy?:
I enjoy physical activity like running and cycling, playing guitar, a new hobby of reading, and spending time with my recently engaged fiancé.

What is your major?
I am an Accounting major with a minor in Sport Management.
Why did you choose Asbury?
I chose Asbury, because I loved the Christian-focused education that was offered and the team environment that I would be joining with swimming at Asbury.
Career Aspirations:
I hope to work in the business side of a professional sports team, more specifically with the MLB.
What Do You Enjoy?:
I love to cook, watch sports, and hangout with my friends in my free time.

What Head Swimming Coach Graham Duncan has to say about Maris:
"Maris has been a valuable member of our team this year. After off-season shoulder surgery, she's been sidelined from the pool, but from day 1 this year she has been front and center doing whatever she can to help out on deck and in the locker room. It doesn't matter what is asked of her, she steps up and makes it happen and it's great to have her show up each and every day ready to support her teammates however she can. I've been blessed to have her helping out on deck and I'm excited for her comeback in the future!"
