GREENCASTLE, In. --- Asbury women's soccer (1-5-2) traveled to Greencastle In. to take on DePauw University (7-2-2) in a Saturday afternoon matchup. DePauw was able to come away with a victory against the Eagles in a 3-0 match.
The Tiger's defense only allowed AU two shots with one on goal.
Violette Moore collected three saves for Asbury in the match.
Deidra Long and
Caroline Absher each collected a shot for the Eagles. Long earned the lone SOG for the day for the Eagles.
DePauw started the game off early and scored the first goal of the match in the first minute of play to take a 1-0 lead against AU.
DePauw would put together more shots for the half but only one would go on goal, which was saved by keeper
Violette Moore in the 32nd minute of action. There wasn't another shot recorded in the half and the first ended with Depauw leading, 1-0.
Despite AU holding Depauw to their one goal for the majority of the first, the Tigers connected again just two minutes into the second to take a 2-0 lead.
Caroline Absher recorded the first shot of the day for the Eagles in the 58th minute but was wide right, keeping the score at 0-2.
The Tigers followed up in the 61st minute with their last goal of the afternoon to take a 3-0 lead.
Violette Moore gathered her last two saves in the following minutes ('63) and ('65) to total her saves for the day at three.
In the 89th minute,
Deidra Long created an attack with a hard strike on goal that was saved by the DePauw keeper. Despite last-minute efforts by the Eagles, Depauw's defense remained strong and held AU scoreless for the match, resulting in the Eagles fifth loss of the season.
After scoring two goals on their home field on Wednesday, the Eagles weren't able to get through a strong Depauw defense.
Asbury looks to bounce back on Wednesday when they travel to Wittenberg University for a night matchup at 7 PM.
