Asbury Concedes Late Goal to Centre in 0-1 Loss


STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
LOUISVILLE, Ky.--- The Asbury men's soccer team (0-0-1) played 87 minutes of scoreless soccer in Louisville, Ky., against Centre (1-1-0), before conceding an 88th minute goal to take their first loss of the 2023 season. 

Centre took 14 total shots in the game with five on goal, Asbury taking seven with two finding target. In a tight matchup the teams combined for 26 fouls and 13 corners. 

Junior Nick Eller led AU with two shots, while Dalton Fleshood and Yousef Ismail were the only Eagles to put a shot on goal. Six different Asbury players contributed to their seven shots, Centre using eight players for their 14. 

AU goalie, Collin Mckibben grabbed two saves on the day and kept Centre off the board for 87 minutes. Drew Davison took five shots for Centre with three on goal, Everett Hauser being the Colonel to find the net in the 88th minute. 

Each team took three shots in the first half, AU freshman Jason Flaming getting the shot off at 22 minutes into the match. 

Centre took three shots in the final 20 minutes of the half with a save from Mckibben, AU took two more shots from Ryan Kim and Nick Eller

Centre controlled most of the second half with 11 shots compared to Asbury's four. AU junior Yousef Ismail got a shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but was saved by Centre's Jacob Camacho. 

In the 88th minute Centre's Everett Hauser found net for the only goal of the match, taking Colonels up 1-0. 

Six minutes later Dalton Fleshood put Asbury's second shot on goal of the match, once again being saved by Camacho. 

Centre held on with their late goal leading them to their first win of the season, taking Asbury to 0-1-1.
