ASHEVILLE, Nc. --- The Asbury Men's Soccer team (4-2-3) traveled to Asheville, Nc. on Saturday to take on Warren Wilson College (0-5). Asbury displayed intense offensive efforts, putting up a season-high 23 shots against the Owls. AU allowed no goals from Warren Wilson, while scoring four of their own, giving the Eagles their fourth win of the season in their highest-scoring match so far, 4-0.
Asbury's goals came from four different Eagles, including
Jason Flaming,
Austin Dunlap,
Yousef Ismail, and
Ryan Kim (Season-First). Dunlap led the board with six shots, a goal, and an assist. Flaming sat behind him with three shots and a goal.
Asbury's starting 11 accounted for 18 of their 23 shots against Warren Wilson. From their 23, AU put 10 on goal.
Peyton French took the box for AU once again and recorded his fourth clean sheet of the year.
Asbury began the match eager to find the back of the net. The match remained scoreless until the 42nd minute, where
Jason Flaming would head one in, assisted by
Yousef Ismail. Despite the majority of the first being scoreless, Asbury still managed to put up 12 shots compared to Warren Wilson's four.
Going into the second with a 1-0 advantage, the Eagles were determined to increase their lead as much as possible.
Yousef Ismail would be next to strike, putting one away off a ball from
Nick Clark, putting AU up 2-0 in the 72nd minute.
As the match neared its end, Asbury would put up two more in the last five minutes, with goals by
Ryan Kim and
Austin Dunlap. Dunlap assisted Kim's goal and scored his solo.
Asbury's defense showed impressive feats against the Owls, only allowing two corners with one save recorded by French.
After AU's fourth shutout of the season, they will move to 4-2-3.
