WILMORE, Ky. --- The Asbury men's soccer team returned home for their third competition of the week in a Friday night matchup against Anderson University. After an early goal by Anderson, Asbury quickly retaliated with one of their own to tie the game 1-1. Despite efforts by both sides, neither would find the net again and the match resulted in the Eagles' second draw of the season, 1-1.
Freshman
Salat Kipterit was Asbury's lone goal scorer once again, finding the net in the 22nd minute, assisted by
Austin Dunlap. Kipterit and Dunlap were able to rebound quickly after Anderson took a lead just six minutes into the game.
Luke Thomas helped the Eagle's efforts against Anderson, recording two shots with one on goal. Asbury recorded a total of eight shots against Anderson with two on goal.
After Kipterit tied things up in the middle of the first, both teams defense tightened down and made it hard for each offense to get going. Asbury outshot Anderson 6-4 in the first, but was still unable to score a second goal, ending the first, 1-1.
It was the Ravens who decided to turn up the heat in the second, outshooting the Eagles 7-2. Asbury found slight momentum toward the end of the half but was not able to put any shots on target.
A key save in the 84th minute by freshman
Peyton French saved the game from going in favor of the Ravens as Jordan Bossman looked for his second goal of the night. .
Asbury moves to 2-2-2 after the Friday night matchup with Anderson in Wilmore ends in a draw. The Eagles have now tied twice and have a one-goal differential in their other four contests.
