2023 Eagle Awards

The Eagle Award - In 1992, the “Eagle Award” was introduced as a way of annually recognizing the individual, organization, company or group who has shown continuing and visible support for the athletic department. It is given with careful consideration to those who are dedicated to the development of character and excellence in young men and women through athletics.

Dan Lewis / Baseball Chaplain and Asbury Sports Digital Network Broadcast Member

“We have all been blessed and challenged by Dan's passion and commitment to discipleship and empowering the next generation, including TeamAU", said Asbury Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Mark Whitworth.

The intentionality and heart of Dan Lewis “Dr. Dan” to spur on Asbury student-athletes to grow in their relationship with Christ is fundamental in the mission of TeamAU.

“Dr. Lewis has been a key piece of our baseball program the last few years", said Asbury Baseball Head Coach Manny Cervantes. “We are blessed to have him invest in the lives of our young men through his encouragement and challenge to all of us to be the best we can to serve God both and off the field. His contributions to our Asbury Sports Digital Network (ASDN) broadcast team has also been a joy for our program in the way he has enriched the connection for our friends and families who can't always make the games but tune in to ASDN watch and hear Dr. Dan."

"Plus, his role as a chaplain to share devotionals with our team have inspired and challenged all of us to keep God at the center of our program. Overall, he is a wonderful testimony and witness to our guys of someone who loves and serves others well. We are indebted to Dr. Lewis and are extremely thankful he is a part of Asbury Baseball.”

Dr. Lewis embodies the heart of The Eagle Award as someone who is dedicated to the development of character and excellence in young men and women through college athletics. Asbury Athletics is better because of the endless support, care, and encouragement of Dan Lewis.
