#TeamAU Featured Alumni: Alexandria LoPrinzi Rodriguez | Class of 2017

.

WILMORE, Ky. --- Asbury Athletics has announced this month's #TeamAU Alumni Feature, presented by KEMI (Kentucky Employers' Mutual Insurance), highlights a former Asbury student-athlete, Alexandria LoPrinzi Rodriguez, class of 2017. Alex was a member of the Asbury women's tennis team from 2013-2017. During her career as an Eagle, Alex saw success as a four-time KIAC/RSC all-conference selection.

"Alex was part of the freshman superclass that I brought in 2013 that began the change in Asbury Women's Tennis.  This group worked hard and kept improving each year until they won Asbury's very first conference championship her junior year.  Alex was also a great student working hard to complete her biology degree to eventually going to veterinary school.  This was her goal from the moment she stepped foot on Asbury's campus and she was the perfect example of what can happen when you set a goal and work hard to achieve it."

What were the years of your time at AU?

I attended Asbury from 2013-2017.

What was your major and what sport did you play?

I was a Pre-Vet Biology major and I played tennis.

How did God use Asbury to impact your life?

Asbury gave me the opportunities, safe spaces, resources, and people to re-confirm my faith that started as a child and commit to Christ as an adult who understands better what it means to be a Christ follower. This is where the second portion of my faith walk began and this changed my life. Now I live in my faith knowing I made the choice and it was not something I was just told I had to do.
Not only did my faith grow exponentially but I built many life long friendships on and off the court. I am forever grateful for the people I met here.
Lastly, this school was a stepping stone to follow a dream I had since I was a little girl and a calling I had from God in high school. It was difficult but I learned so much in the classroom and now I have the career I've always wanted and can implement God's word in my job every day.

What is your favorite Bible verse and why?

"So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." Corinthians 10:31
This is my favorite verse because it is my reminder that everything I do is not for myself and my earthly life. My efforts and struggles in life are for Jesus and His kingdom. This gives me motivation with the small things in my day-to-day life that seem too big some days.

What is your current occupation?

 Emergency Veterinarian in Clearwater, Florida.

What is your favorite Asbury athletics memory?

There are honestly too many to pick from. Winning a championship for the first time in Asbury women's tennis history was rewarding and an amazing accomplishment. I got to do this with the people I grew close to from day one scavenger hunt to our Chicago mission trip and finally our spring break trips senior year with the people who rejoiced with me during good times and supported each other during the bad. I knew no matter what we would always be there for one another.

Why would you encourage anyone to attend Asbury University?

I would encourage anyone who wants to be encouraged in their faith, wants to ask the tough questions to learn more from people who are wiser, and wants a tough curriculum that will open doors in their professional life. I encourage anyone who is ready for a tough but extremely rewarding four years of college. These are all things that will enrich and better anyone's life.
