DANVILLE, Ky.--- Asbury Softball (14-26) traveled to Centre College (15-19), for their last games of the season, and competed in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles fell early to Centre in game one, 6-1, but retaliated hard in game two, coming back to take the victory over the Colonels in a 7-2 game.
Taylor Enlow led the day grabbing four hits and her sixth home run. Enlow went 4-7 on the day and collected four RBIs.
Enlow is continuing to dominate the NCCAA, as she still sits in the top ten for seven different hitting and fielding categories (6H/1F) Most notably, she leads the NCCAA with 18 doubles and is third in her slugging percentage with .814.
Olivia Judy continued to perform for the Eagles grabbing four hits on the day and going 4-7 at bat.
Kyla Bell had a good day at the plate, grabbing three hits and a run for AU.
Josie Deatherage took the mound for AU in game two and grabbed six strikeouts to aid her 66 on the year. Deatherage gave up no walks and grabbed her fifth win of the season.
The AU offense produced five hits in game one and 13 hits in game two.
Game One | ASBURY 1, CENTRE 6
The Colonels grabbed an early lead in game one, with two runs scored in the first inning.
Centre went on to increase their lead to six runs while holding AU to zero through the fifth inning.
It was in the sixth inning when
Taylor Enlow hit a double to center field to bring home
Isabel Rochemont to give AU their only run of the game.
The Colonel's defense was sharp in game one and held AU to their one run. Colonel pitcher Searcy collected nine strikeouts to aid to Centre's 6-1 win in game one.
After game one, Asbury moves to a 13-26 record.
Game Two | ASBURY 7, CENTRE 2
Josie Deatherage took the start on the mound for Asbury in game two, recording six strikeouts and zero walks in her seven innings pitched.
Asbury was the one to grab an early lead scoring one run in the first due to a single by
Taylor Sanders to bring home
Olivia Palasek.
AU's defense held Centre through the second and Asbury went on to grab another three runs in the top of the third from
Taylor Enlow's homer, bringing in
Olivia Palasek and
Kaitlyn Wilson.
Centre began to find some footing in the bottom of the third and secured two runs to make it a 4-2 game going into the fourth inning.
Hits by
Abigail Fletcher and
Taylor Sanders helped AU increase their lead by another three runs, as Asbury scored one in the sixth and two in the seventh. AU's defense, led by
Josie Deatherage, held Centre to just their two runs and grabbed the victory in game two.
With their win in game two, Asbury moves to a 14-26 record and concludes their 2023 season.
