WILMORE, Ky.--- Asbury Softball (13-25) took their home field for the final time of their 2023 season on Wednesday evening for a doubleheader sweep over Oakland City in Wilmore, Ky.
Five hits from junior
Taylor Enlow on the day including her first career grand slam powered Asbury's offense. Enlow went 5-8 with five RBIs, taking her to a team-high 35 RBIs. Enlow now has 100 bases gained by her hits this season.Â
Natalie Ison recorded two hits with a double in game one and four RBI's on the day while
Olivia Judy collected two hits and two RBIs in game two.
The AU offense produced eleven hits in game one and ten hits in game two for their 21 total runs.
Game One | ASBURY 6, OAKLAND CITY 5
Sophomore right-hander
Josie Deatherage got the start in game one, going seven innings with five strikeouts to collect her fourth win.Â
Oakland City struck first in the top of the second, putting up the sole four runs of the first four innings of the game.
It was in the bottom of the fifth that the Eagles found their momentum off of a sacrifice fly from
Kaitlyn Wilson to move
Isabel Rochemont to scoring position. AU's first run was brought in by
Olivia Palasek's single to center field. Six hits in the fifth led by a double from
Taylor Sanders and
Abigail Fletcher, and singles from
Olivia Palasek,
Taylor Enlow, Ison, and
Olivia Judy. With a crucial double from Fletcher, the Eagles' secured a 5-4 lead over the Mighty Oaks.
Oakland City secured a run in the sixth to tie the game 5-5, but AU drove in one more run from an RBI single to right field provided by captain
Taylor Enlow to take back the Eagles' lead, 6-5.
Asbury's defense was able to hold the Mighty Oaks to zero runs in the top of the seventh including a strikeout from
Josie Deatherage to secure the game one victory.
Game Two | ASBURY 8, OAKLAND CITY 7
Kaylee Strunk took the start on the mound for Asbury in game two, recording three strikeouts in her three innings pitched.Â
Tori Giurgevich grabbed a win for the Eagles in game two, making her record 3-1.
The first inning was offensively heavy for both teams, as Oakland City first put up four runs in the top of the inning.
Next was AU to bring in two runs from
Natalie Ison's 2 RBI single to center field to bring the score to 4-2.
The Eagles held the Mighty Oaks to four runs through the top of the second, with
Kaylee Strunk grabbing another strikeout.
In the bottom of the second, hits by
Abby Fletcher and
Olivia Palasek helped load the bases for the Eagles in the bottom of the second.
On her first pitch at bat,
Taylor Enlow sent one over the left field wall, giving Enlow her first career grand slam and putting the Eagles ahead 6-4.
Sparked in the top of the third, Oakland City went on an unanswered three-run streak, taking a 7-6Â lead entering the sixth inning.
After Asbury's three scoreless innings,Â
Olivia Judy reached first on a two-run error, bringing in
Taylor Sanders and
Taylor Enlow to reclaim their lead 8-7.Â
The final out was recorded from an Enlow-Rochemont double play to seal the sweep over Oakland City.
AU has now won four of their last six and moves to 13-25 on the year.Â

AU collected 21 hits through the sweep with 15 runs.
Taylor Enlow sits in the top ten for eight different NCCAA hitting and fielding categories (7H/1F).
Enlow sits at No.1 with 18 doubles, No. 3 for slugging percentage at .814, and No. 3 for her OPS with 1.310.Â
She is also tied for fifth with five homeruns.

As the Eagles wrapped up the final home game of their 2023 campaign, they will next head to Danville, Ky., on April 22 to compete in a doubleheader at Centre College. Game one will start at 12pm.
