BEREA, Ky.--- For the eighth straight game and 13th time this season Asbury baseball (13-10) produced double-digit hits, scoring nine runs in the first inning to top Berea (5-20) on Tuesday night, 14-3.
The Eagles have now scored double-digit runs in all seven games during their winning streak that started on March 17 against MUW. In the seven game span the offense has now scored 106 runs.
Tyler Hewlett produced two hits for threes RBIs and two runs scored for AU.
Ethan Cartwright also had two hits to keep his offensive success going, scoring three times and stealing a base.
Colton Perkins had a multi-hit night, going 2-4 with an RBI, run scored, walk, and two stolen bases.
Eli Wilder continued to stay perfect in his third win of the year, going 3.0 innings with only one hit allowed and striking out two to move to 3-0.
Asbury's offense wasted no time, scoring nine runs in the very first inning of the night.
Quinn Nobles and
Colton Perkins had RBI singles in the inning while
Tyler Hewlett powered the first with a two-RBI double.
Berea added one of their three runs in the first but AU jumped right back into scoring in the second, using two hits to score four more runs and take the game to 13-1 after three half innings.
Kaden Dugle had a two-RBI single in the inning to score
Noah Brown and
Nathaniel Frank.
Four straight singles to start the top of the third resulted in Asbury's 14th run in only three innings, going ahead 14-1. AU had only one more hit in the final four innings of the game after scoring 14 runs early.
Berea scored one in the fifth and another in the sixth but were only able to get three total off
Eli Wilder and the Asbury bullpen.
The Eagles have now won seven straight and move to 13-10 in the 2023 season.
