WILMORE, Ky.--- After a weekend sweep the Asbury offense continued to produce, reaching double-digit hits (15) for the fifth straight game to beat Wilmington College (8-8) on Tuesday night, 15-5.
Juniors
Kaden Dugle and
Ethan Cartwright produced big days for Asbury (10-10), Dugle going for a two-run homer and Cartwright a three-run blast.
Dugle went 3-4 with 4 RBIs including two doubles and a home run. Cartwright had two hits including the home run, adding three RBIs to his team-leading 22.
Andrew Billington and
Matthew Johnson each had three RBIs for Asbury, Billington scored three runs with a double.
Junior right-hander
Eli Wilder went 4.1 innings with two earned runs in his second start of the season for AU. Wilder struck out two in his outing, earning his second win of the year to move to 2-0.
After Wilmington scored a run in the first, Asbury answered quickly with a hit and three runs in the bottom half. AU used a
Noah Brown leadoff single and three walks to get things going.
Kaden Dugle doubled in the second after two Wilmington errors to drive in two, taking the AU lead to 6-1.
Matthew Baker singled down the left-field line in the third to score
Ethan Cartwright for Asbury's seventh run.
In the fourth and fifth it was homers from Cartwright and Dugle alongside an
Andrew Billington two-RBI double to produced eight more runs for AU, giving them a 15-5 advantage.
David Sevastio came on in the fifth for Wilder, handling the final eight outs of the game. The senior righty gave up no earned runs and only three hits.
Asbury used their explosive offense to end the schedule nine inning game short, taking the win in seven innings over Wilmington, 15-5.
The Eagles move to 10-10 on the season after their fourth straight win.
"We finally got some good weather up on the hill and took advantage of it. The offense has been clicking here recently and our pitchers have been giving us a chance to win. I was relieved to finally hit my first bomb of the year today and add to our lead. We're looking to keep this winning streak going this Thursday at home. Roll Eags!"
