DANVILLE, Ky.--- Despite taking an early 4-0 advantage, Asbury (6-9) fell on Tuesday evening in Danville, Ky., to Division III opponent Centre College, 5-10.
Centre (11-5) has now won seven straight after their comeback win over AU on Tuesday. The two programs met for the fourth time since 2008 and the first time since 2009. Centre now leads the overall series 3-1.
Asbury's offense jumped right in on Centre's home field, scoring two runs in the top of the first powered by singles from
Nathaniel Frank and
Kaden Dugle. Frank and
Noah Brown came around to score in the inning.
Senior
Noah Brown and freshman
Andrew Billington led the AU offense with two hits apiece, Billington crossing home twice while Brown scored one run.
Jackson Cole led the Eagles with two RBIs off an RBI single and sac fly.
After starting pitcher
David Savastio gave Centre a zero in the first Asbury caused damage again in the second, scoring two runs on three hits. The singles came from Billington, Brown, and Cole to give Asbury the early 4-0 edge.

Jack Morris came in relief in the inning to get a fly out with the bases loaded.
The Colonels added three more in the third off three hits and then five in the fourth off four more hits. The Asbury bullpen struggled to slow the Colonel bats down once they got rolling in mid-innings.
AU's offense was held to only two hits and no runs from the third to ninth innings after scoring four runs on five hits in the first two innings of the game. Singles from Billington and Brown pushed a run (Billington) across in the ninth, but wasn't enough as Asbury fell in their return to competition with Centre, 5-10.
Centre's offense scored ten unanswered runs and finished the day with 12 hits. Asbury had a strong nine hits as well but committed three errors on defense.
