WILMORE, Ky.---
Nick Fort's 25 points and 15 rebounds pushed Asbury (16-5) over Miami-Hamitlon (16-8) on senior day in the Asbury Luce Center, 66-62.
Asbury honored three seniors from the men's basketball team and four seniors from the Asbury cheerleading team. The men's basketball players honored included
Nick Fort,
Jason Law, and
Lezra Means. Asbury honored Alaina Zacharias, Brianna U'Wren, Maria Kime, and Erin Sexauer from the cheerleading team.
Fort's performance marks his 15th double-double of the season for Asbury out of his 20 games. Nick added four assists to his stat line on the day and went 6-8 from the free-throw line.
Junior guards
Dakota Walden and
John Shoulders were the other Eagles in double-figures, both scoring 12 on the day combining four eight threes together. Walden was an efficient 4-7 from the field (all threes) and collected three steals. Shoulders made four threes himself and also grabbed four rebounds with three assists.
Clayton Winter, the sophomore forward for Asbury was a force on the glass behind Fort with 11 rebounds of his own.
Asbury's bench came to play, outsccoring Miami-Hamilton 28-10 in bench points. Both teams turned the ball over 11 times to keep things tight in the turnover battle.
AU made 11 threes compared to Miami-Hamilton's five, using their strong shooting as a key difference on the day. Walden and Shoulders teamed up for eight of Asbury's 11 threes.
The Asbury offense made an early push in the first ten minutes for a 19-11 advantage over the Harriers. Miami-Hamilton stayed on Asbury's heels throughout the half but never took a lead after their early 5-0 edge.
Asbury finsihed the half with a 6-0 run tpowered by
Nick Fort and
Clayton Winter, going into the break up 37-31.
The Eagles had a strong start to the half once again, this time grabbing a 50-41 lead with 13:25 to go in the game. Shoulders and Walden made early threes in the half that pushed Asbury into their run.
AU took their largest lead of the day at 11:14 to go with a
Nick Fort layup taking things to 56-44.
Miami-Hamilton made a final push in the last ten minutes, bringing their deficit to 59-62 with under three minutes to go.

Nick Fort jumper closed the door on Miami-Hamilton as Asbury went on to win their 16th game of the year, 66-62.
AU takes the senior day win on their home court and moves to 16-5.
