Ben McNew scored 18 points apiece on Friday night in round one of the Bluffton Tournament in Bluffton, Oh., but Asbury men's basketball (8-6) fell to Albion College (6-4), 75-80.
AU scored 45 points in the second half to out-score Albion by a point and got within one (75-76) with under a minute to go, but could not complete the comeback over the Britons.
* Caleb Wallis shot 7-13 from the field with two threes for 18 points, while dishing six assists with a steal
* Ben McNew went 6-10 from the field with four threes for 18 points, also dishing four assists
* Dakota Walden scored 12 points with two rebounds and a steal
* Clayton Winter scored 10 points with 11 rebounds for his fourth double-double this season, going 4-4 from the line
* Cayden Lancaster scored eight points with two rebounds, two assists, and a steal
* Tyler Hall scored six points with a rebound and a steal
* Kameron Mayes scored 26 points for Albion (12-16 FG)
* Albion shot 55% from the field on the night, going 3-13 from three
* Asbury shot 41% from the field with 11 made threes
* AU led 24-19 with 6:02 to go in the first half, but trailed 30-36 at the break
* Asbury did not have the lead in the second half but tied the game multiple times
* AU outscored Albion 45-44 in the second half, and had the game within one point under a minute to go
* Asbury dished 16 assists, Albion dished 14
* Albion won the rebound battle 37-30
* AU committed only eight turnovers, Albion committed 11
* Albion scored 50 points in the pain, AU scored 12 points off turnovers
* Ben McNew made a three with under a minute to go that would have tied the game but AU was called for an offensive foul to discount the basket

* Albion shot 55% from the field
* AU made 11 threes and committed only eight turnovers

Asbury will play on Saturday against the loser of Bluffton and Miami-Hamilton
