KISSIMMEE, Fl.--- The Asbury men's soccer team (11-4-4) began the NCCAA National Tournament by taking on Wesmont College (9-7-3) on Monday afternoon in Kissimmee, Fl. Both sides put up impressive efforts, but due to early goals by the Warriors, AU fell to Westmont in a 3-1 match. 


* Luke Thomas was AU's lone goal-scorer against Westmont with a goal in the 70th minute
* Jason Flaming recorded his second assist of the year against the Warriors on the Thomas goal
* Austin Dunlap recorded three shots and one on goal
* Ryan Kim and Luke Thomas both put up two shots of their own, with each having one on target
* Peyton French faced 10 shots and recorded seven saves, tying a season-high
* Westmont's Erik Guerrero scored two PK goals in the match


* The Eagles combined for 12 shots and five on-goals
* Westmont scored two goals in the first eight minutes of the match 
* The Warriors scored two of their goals off penalty kicks
* Their were three yellow cards in the match, two going to Asbury
* Asbury had seven shots in the first half compared to Westmont's eight
* Westmont committed 17 fouls while AU fouled 13 times in a physical contest
* Asbury took five corner kicks, Westmont took seven

"We didn't start how we wanted to, with two goals in the first five minutes. The boys had moments where it was there, but they needed to put a full performance together. We learned from this and are back at it tomorrow."

Asbury will play once again at 3:30 pm in Kissimmee, Fl., on day two of the National Championship, this time against Wayland Baptist University.
