KISSIMMEE, Fl.--- The Asbury men's soccer team (11-5-4) continued their play in the NCCAA National Tournament, taking on Wayland Baptist (9-6-3) on Tuesday afternoon. Two goals in the second gave the Pioneers their 3-0 lead, which they would hold over the Eagles and secure a victory. Tuesday's result concludes the Asbury 2023 season with a record of 11-5-4. 


* Salat Kipterit and Cameron Johnson led AU's shot count, each grabbing two.
* AU's two shots-on-target came from Bryan Ortiz and Salat Kipterit.
* Peyton French faced seven shots and recorded four saves.
* Gavin Howard, Nick Eller, Jason Flaming, and Dalton Fleshood all grabbed one shot a piece.
* WBU's Harry Garbutt scored two goals in the match, with Jamol Williams recording the other.


* The Eagles held good possession in the first, outshooting WBU 5-4, but the Pioneers would take the second 9-4.
* WBU scored a goal in the 21st minute, taking a 1-0 lead into the half. 
* 62 and 72 minute goals in the second extended the WBU lead.
* Two of WBU's goals were solo in the match. 
* The Eagles held good possession throughout both halves but would fall to WBU's counterattacks.
* There were three yellow cards in the match, two going to Wayland Baptist.
* The Pioneers committed 13 fouls while AU fouled 12 times in a physical contest.
* Asbury took three corners, WBU took four.
