Will Shouse Reaches 300 Career Collegiate Wins on Ray Shouse Day, Asbury Beats Boyce 92-83


STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
WILMORE, Ky.--- Will Shouse reached 300 collegiate career wins on Ray Shouse Day in the Luce Center on Saturday afternoon. Asbury men's basketball (14-5) got back in the win column by scoring 92 points to beat Boyce College (6-11), 92-83. 

Graduate forward Nick Fort led Asbury in scoring and rebounding with 28 points and 16 boards for his 14th double-double. Fort also grabbed three steals and dished three assists. 

Junior guard Dakota Walden also had a strong day for AU, scoring 17 points and grabbing five rebounds. Caleb Wallis, the junior guard added 14 points for Asbury with four assists and four boards. 

Sophomore Clayton Winter grabbed ten rebounds off the glass for AU and scored eight points. 

Asbury's offense made nine threes and only committed six turnovers on the day. AU's 92 points makes their sixth time this season scoring above 90. 

Boyce was powered by junior forward Brody Madeira, dropping 34 points (15-20 FG) with five rebounds. Boyce made 13 threes on the day to shoot 44.8 percent from behind the line. 

The Bulldogs from Boyce started out strong, taking an early 12-6 lead over AU from a Brody Madeira three. Asbury settled in to gain a 24-17 advantage over Boyce with 9:45 to go in the first half. 

Asbury took their largest lead of the half at 34-25 from a Zion Thomas and-one layup. Boyce answered firmly with a 17-8 run to close the half, getting them within two of Asbury heading into the break (42-44). 

AU came out in the second half ready to go with ten points in the first three minutes, giving them a 54-47 edge over Boyce from a Dakota Walden layup. 

A Ben McNew three and multiple Nick Fort layups extended the Asbury lead to 66-50 with 12:10 remaining in the game. Boyce charged back to get within nine from a Royce Torres three that brought things to 71-80. 

Late free-throws from Dakota Walden and Caleb Wallis secured Asbury's home win on Ray Shouse Day, taking their 14th win of the year, 92-83. 

With this win Asbury moves to 14-5 on the season with five regular season games remaining.
