STORY - THE ESSENTIALS
WILMORE, Ky.--- Nick Fort collected his 12th double-double of the season on Saturday afternoon with 19 points and 14 rebounds, but the Eagle offense was held to 61 points and fell to Simmons College in the Luce Center, 66-61.

Fort was 7-9 from the free-throw line and dished three assists. The six-foot-six grad student's 14 rebounds was his third time this season with as many boards. Clayton Winter was also a force on the glass with eight rebounds of his own.

Junior guard Caleb Wallis and senior guard Dakota Walden each scored ten points. Wallis dished three assists and made two threes. Walden collected three rebounds and grabbed two steals.

Asbury's offense struggled to find a rhythm, shooting only 32.8 percent from the field with their lowest point total of the season at 61. AU was also 6-28 from distance.

Simmons College was led in scoring by the guard duo of Gavin Withrow and Trey Radcliffe, each scoring 15 points. Withrow grabbed eight rebounds with his 15 points, and Radcliffe collected two steals.

The Falcons were also supported by James Moore's 12 and 11 double-double, alongside Cameron Bartmann grabbing 13 rebounds to lead the team.

Simmons outrebounded Asbury 44-33, but AU won the turnover battle giving away ten compared to the Simmons 13.

In a back-and-forth contest all throughout, Simmons took an early 21-11 lead with ten minutes to go in the first half. Over the final ten minutes of the half Asbury fought back to take a 14-2 run that gave them their first lead of the game at 28-27.

James Moore from Simmons made a jumper that put the Falcons ahead of Asbury once again, sending them into the half with a one point advantage over AU, 29-28.

Simmons started the second half similar to the first, extending their lead to 38-29 with 16:38 remaining. Caleb Wallis and Dakota Walden combined for three threes for Asbury to get the Eagles back in front with 13:24 left, 42-41.

The final 13 minutes were neck-and-neck, with three ties between the two teams. A Ben McNew three for Asbury tied things at 50 with just over ten minutes to go.

Asbury extended their lead to four with a Nick Fort jumper, taking the score to 56-52. Simmons battled back to take a 6-0 run for a 58-56 lead they would not let up.

The Falcons closed the game out with a layup from Trey Radcliffe to secure their 66-61 win.

Asbury moves to 13-4 with the loss, their second in a row for the first time this season.
